Canada Passport Photo Requirements

Canada Passport Photo Requirements: what is different

Printed photo dimensions

For standard in-person or mail applications, Canadian passport photos are 50 mm wide by 70 mm high. The face height from chin to crown must be 31–36 mm.

Professional capture and printing

Canada requires the photos to be taken in person by a commercial photographer or photo studio and professionally printed on photographic paper for the standard paper process. The photographer must provide required information on the back of a photo.

No alteration

Canada explicitly rejects altered photos, including AI tools, filters, background changes and many technical corrections. That means ImgFixAll should not be used to modify a Canadian passport submission. The tool can still be useful for unrelated ID, profile and print-layout tasks where editing is permitted.

Digital online renewals are different

Online renewal uses a separate digital-photo specification and still requires an original, unaltered image from a commercial photographer. Always follow the workflow shown for your exact application type.

Important: ImgFixAll is an independent photo utility, not a government service. Where an authority prohibits digital alteration, AI editing, background replacement, or home printing, follow the authority's rule rather than editing the image here. Read more guides.
