Common printed specification
Passport Seva application instructions for cases that require an affixed photograph specify a recent colour photograph measuring 4.5 cm × 3.5 cm, with a plain white background and dark clothing.
Face and expression
- Use a frontal view of the full face.
- Keep the head centred in the frame.
- Use a natural expression and keep the eyes open.
- Avoid distracting shadows, dark glasses and hair covering the eyes.
Application method matters
Indian passport workflows differ by application channel and applicant category. Some processes capture the photograph at the Passport Seva Kendra rather than asking you to supply a printed image. Do not assume a 35 × 45 mm print is required for every application.
